Condos for better land use
Progress usually takes out the old and puts in the new. New technology produces new products. New products mean new businesses. New businesses create new jobs. New jobs attract more people. Thus, progress creates an increase in population. An increase in population requires an increase in residential area. However, new businesses also need new office or commercial buildings. Thus, there is an unseen tug of war between commercial space against residential space for the fixed city space.
The logic is that a 1000 square meter lot can house only 10, 100-square meter homes. This creates a money generating capacity equal to the rent or residence tax of the ten homes. However, that same lot can host a 20-floor building which can produce at total of 200 homes of roughly the same living area, all at the same income generating capacity as a single house. Thus, high rise buildings like Toronto Condominiums are more efficient land use options. Also, the proximity of Toronto Condos to most of these commercial areas allow easier and faster access compared to most suburbian housing options.
